Ingredients

  • Basmati rice - 150 grams
  • Beef brisket, kosher - 200 grams, diced
  • Onion - 1 medium, chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, diced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Water - 450 milliliters

Steps

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the diced bell pepper, tomato, paprika, cumin, bay leaf, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables soften.
  4. Add the basmati rice to the skillet and stir to combine it with the beef and vegetables.
  5. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice has absorbed all the liquid.
  6. Remove the bay leaf, fluff the rice with a fork, and stir in the chopped parsley before serving.
