  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lettuce leaves (Romaine or Iceberg) - 4 large leaves
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges

Steps

  1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground venison. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the spices are fragrant.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and prepare the lettuce leaves as taco shells.
  6. Assemble the tacos by placing the venison mixture into each lettuce leaf, then top with diced tomato, avocado slices, and chopped cilantro.
  7. Serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the tacos.
