  • Tomato sauce - 200 grams
  • Ketchup - 2 tablespoons
  • Worcestershire sauce (vegetarian) - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole grain hamburger buns - 2

Steps

  1. Rinse the brown lentils under cold water and then cook them in a pot with 500ml of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and green bell pepper, and sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.

  4. Stir in the cooked lentils, tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let simmer for 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
