- basil - 1 teaspoon, dried
- oregano - 1 teaspoon, dried
- red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
- salt - to taste
- black pepper - to taste
- fresh basil - a handful, for garnish
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and diced onion to the saucepan, sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.

- Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and reserve a little pasta water.
