Ingredients

  • Chickpeas - 1 cup, cooked and drained
  • Oats - 1/2 cup, rolled
  • Nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Flaxseed meal - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mash the cooked chickpeas with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
  2. Add rolled oats, nutritional yeast, soy sauce, maple syrup, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt to the mashed chickpeas. Mix until well combined.
  3. In a small bowl, combine flaxseed meal and water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it thickens.
  4. Add the flaxseed mixture to the chickpea mixture and stir until fully incorporated.
  5. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
  6. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.
