- Chickpeas - 1 cup, cooked and drained
- Oats - 1/2 cup, rolled
- Nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Flaxseed meal - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the cooked chickpeas with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
- Add rolled oats, nutritional yeast, soy sauce, maple syrup, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt to the mashed chickpeas. Mix until well combined.
- In a small bowl, combine flaxseed meal and water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it thickens.
- Add the flaxseed mixture to the chickpea mixture and stir until fully incorporated.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.
