Ingredients

  • Chickpeas - 1 cup, cooked
  • Tahini - 2 tablespoons
  • Nutritional yeast - 1 tablespoon
  • Dijon mustard - 1 teaspoon
  • Apple cider vinegar - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Black salt (kala namak) - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Paprika - for garnish
  • Fresh chives - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, mash the cooked chickpeas with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth.
  2. Add tahini, nutritional yeast, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric, and black salt to the mashed chickpeas.
  3. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is creamy and well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  4. Using a spoon or piping bag, fill small halved avocado or cucumber slices to mimic the shape of deviled eggs.
  5. Sprinkle paprika on top for garnish and add chopped fresh chives.
  6. Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes before serving.
