- Canned navy beans - 400 grams
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Onion, finely chopped - 1 medium (150 grams)
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ketchup - 3 tablespoons
- Maple syrup - 2 tablespoons
- Apple cider vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Mustard powder - 1 teaspoon
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Water - 100 milliliters
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a medium-sized oven-safe pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the canned navy beans (drained and rinsed), ketchup, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, mustard powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and water.
- Mix everything well and bring to a simmer.
- Cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven.
- Bake for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
