Ingredients

  • Heavy cream - 250 ml
  • Whole milk - 100 ml
  • Granulated sugar - 50 grams
  • Vanilla bean - 1 (split and seeds scraped)
  • Gelatin powder - 2 grams
  • Cold water - 15 ml

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin powder over the cold water and let it bloom for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Add the vanilla bean seeds and the split pod to the mixture.
  3. Heat the cream mixture over medium heat until it is hot but not boiling, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved.
  5. Remove the vanilla pod and pour the mixture into two serving molds or cups.
  6. Let the panna cotta cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.
  7. To serve, gently run a knife around the edges of the panna cotta, then invert onto a plate or serve directly in the cups.
