Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Corn tortillas - 4 pieces
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red cabbage - 100 grams, shredded
  • Carrot - 1 medium, grated
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Avocado - 1 small, sliced
  • Greek yogurt or vegan alternative - 3 tablespoons
  • Hot sauce (optional) - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into thick strips.
  2. In a bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, lime juice, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Add the tofu strips to the marinade and let them soak for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the marinated tofu strips. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
  5. While the tofu cooks, prepare the slaw by combining shredded red cabbage, grated carrot, and chopped cilantro in a bowl. Add lime juice, salt, and mix well.
  6. Warm the corn tortillas in a separate skillet for about 30 seconds on each side.
  7. Assemble the tacos by placing a few pieces of crispy tofu on each tortilla, topping with the slaw, avocado slices, and a drizzle of Greek yogurt or vegan alternative. Add hot sauce if desired.
  8. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.
