Ingredients
- Beef short ribs - 1 kg
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Smoked paprika - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic powder - 1 tablespoon
- Onion powder - 1 tablespoon
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Cayenne pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Apple cider vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- BBQ sauce (halal) - 100 ml
- Water - 500 ml
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
- In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to create a dry rub.
- Pat the beef short ribs dry with paper towels and rub the olive oil all over the ribs, followed by the spice mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Place the ribs in a large baking dish and add the apple cider vinegar and water to the bottom of the dish to create steam during cooking.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 3 hours until the ribs are tender.
- Remove the foil and brush the BBQ sauce over the ribs. Increase the oven temperature to 220°C (425°F) and return the ribs to the oven for an additional 30 minutes, basting occasionally with more BBQ sauce.
- Once the ribs are caramelized and slightly charred, remove them from the oven and let them rest for 10 minutes before serving.
