  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Bell peppers - 1, cut into 2.5 cm pieces
  • Red onion - 1, cut into 2.5 cm pieces
  • Wooden skewers - 4, soaked in water for 30 minutes

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, grated ginger, garam masala, cumin powder, paprika, turmeric, salt, black pepper, and vegetable oil to create a marinade.
  2. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade, making sure they are fully coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for more flavor.
  3. Preheat the grill or oven to medium-high heat (around 200°C / 400°F).
  4. Thread the marinated chicken pieces, bell peppers, and red onion onto the soaked wooden skewers, alternating between the chicken and vegetables.
  5. Place the skewers on the grill or a baking tray if using an oven. Grill for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice char.
  6. Remove from heat and let the skewers rest for a few minutes before serving.
