Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Szechuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Broccoli florets - 100 grams
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili paste - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with soy sauce and let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. After marinating, sprinkle cornstarch over the tofu and toss until evenly coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove tofu and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add Szechuan peppercorns and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Add minced garlic and ginger, stir-frying for another 30 seconds.
  7. Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  8. Return the cooked tofu to the skillet and add the chopped green onions, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and chili paste. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
  9. Serve immediately over rice or noodles.
