Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Szechuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
- Bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
- Broccoli florets - 100 grams
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Chili paste - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
- In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with soy sauce and let it marinate for 10 minutes.
- After marinating, sprinkle cornstarch over the tofu and toss until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove tofu and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add Szechuan peppercorns and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add minced garlic and ginger, stir-frying for another 30 seconds.
- Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Return the cooked tofu to the skillet and add the chopped green onions, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and chili paste. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
- Serve immediately over rice or noodles.
