Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams
  • Szechuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
  • Red bell pepper - 1, sliced
  • Green bell pepper - 1, sliced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Hoisin sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and cornstarch. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add Szechuan peppercorns and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet and stir-fry for another minute until aromatic.
  4. Add the marinated chicken pieces to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the sliced red and green bell peppers, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until they are slightly tender.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and chili paste. Pour this sauce over the chicken and vegetables, tossing to coat evenly.
  7. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  8. Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, and serve hot.
