  • Brisket - 500 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons

  • Brown sugar - 3 tablespoons
  • Apple cider vinegar - 100 ml
  • Ketchup - 100 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 250 ml
  • Carrots - 2 medium, sliced
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 160°C (325°F).
  2. In a large oven-safe pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, mustard, salt, and black pepper to create the sweet and sour sauce.
  5. Place the brisket in the pot with the sautéed onions and garlic, then pour the sweet and sour sauce over the brisket.
  6. Add water to the pot and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  7. Cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven. Cook for about 2 hours.
  8. After 2 hours, add sliced carrots and bell pepper to the pot, cover it again, and cook for an additional hour or until the brisket is tender.
  9. Once done, remove the pot from the oven and let the brisket rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
  10. Serve the brisket slices with the vegetables and sauce spooned over the top.
