- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Mustard - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 250 ml
- Carrots - 2 medium, sliced
- Bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 160°C (325°F).
- In a large oven-safe pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, mustard, salt, and black pepper to create the sweet and sour sauce.
- Place the brisket in the pot with the sautéed onions and garlic, then pour the sweet and sour sauce over the brisket.
- Add water to the pot and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven. Cook for about 2 hours.
- After 2 hours, add sliced carrots and bell pepper to the pot, cover it again, and cook for an additional hour or until the brisket is tender.
- Once done, remove the pot from the oven and let the brisket rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the brisket slices with the vegetables and sauce spooned over the top.
