Ingredients

  • Sushi rice - 1 cup
  • Water - 1 1/4 cups
  • Rice vinegar - 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Chopped green onions - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved.
