Ingredients
- all-purpose flour - 250 grams
- granulated sugar - 50 grams
- instant yeast - 7 grams
- milk (warm) - 120 ml
- large egg - 1
- unsalted butter (melted) - 30 grams
- vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- jelly (your choice) - 100 grams
- vegetable oil (for frying) - 500 ml
- powdered sugar (for dusting) - to taste
Steps
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together warm milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1 cm thickness on a floured surface.
- Using a round cutter (about 6 cm in diameter), cut out circles of dough and place them on a floured baking sheet. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- In a deep pot, heat vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F). Carefully drop in the dough circles, a few at a time, and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove the donuts with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Once cooled slightly, use a piping bag to fill each donut with jelly.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
