- canned chickpeas - 400 grams, drained and rinsed
- rolled oats - 50 grams
- Sriracha sauce - 2 tablespoons
- garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- burger buns - 2
- lettuce leaves - 2
- tomato - 1, sliced
- avocado - 1, sliced
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a large bowl, mash the drained chickpeas with a fork until they are mostly smooth but still have some texture.
- Add the rolled oats, Sriracha sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, olive oil, and chopped cilantro to the mashed chickpeas.
- Mix everything together until well combined. If the mixture is too wet, add a little more oats.
- Form the mixture into two patties.
- Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- While the patties are baking, prepare your burger toppings.
- Toast the burger buns lightly in the oven for the last 5 minutes of the patties' cooking time.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a chickpea patty on each bun, topped with lettuce, tomato slices, and avocado.
