Ingredients

  • canned chickpeas - 400 grams, drained and rinsed
  • rolled oats - 50 grams
  • Sriracha sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • burger buns - 2
  • lettuce leaves - 2
  • tomato - 1, sliced
  • avocado - 1, sliced

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a large bowl, mash the drained chickpeas with a fork until they are mostly smooth but still have some texture.
  3. Add the rolled oats, Sriracha sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, olive oil, and chopped cilantro to the mashed chickpeas.
  4. Mix everything together until well combined. If the mixture is too wet, add a little more oats.
  5. Form the mixture into two patties.
  6. Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  7. While the patties are baking, prepare your burger toppings.
  8. Toast the burger buns lightly in the oven for the last 5 minutes of the patties' cooking time.
  9. Assemble the burgers by placing a chickpea patty on each bun, topped with lettuce, tomato slices, and avocado.
