Ingredients
- Fresh spinach - 150 grams
- Feta cheese - 100 grams, crumbled
- Cream cheese - 50 grams
- Puff pastry sheets - 2 sheets (about 250 grams total)
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Egg - 1, for egg wash
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (optional)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat, then add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the fresh spinach to the skillet and cook until wilted, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked spinach, crumbled feta cheese, cream cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut them into squares of about 10x10 cm.
- Place a spoonful of the spinach and feta mixture in the center of each puff pastry square.
- Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a pocket, and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for an extra seal.
- Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the tops of the pastry puffs. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
- Place the puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
