Ingredients

  • Tempeh - 200 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cayenne pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Avocado - 1, sliced
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Vegan mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Sriracha sauce - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Start by crumbling the tempeh into a bowl.
  2. Add olive oil, soy sauce, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well until the tempeh is evenly coated.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the tempeh mixture. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tempeh is golden and slightly crispy.
  4. While the tempeh is cooking, slice the burger buns and toast them in a separate pan or toaster until golden brown.
  5. Once the tempeh is cooked, form it into two patties.
  6. In the same skillet, cook the patties for an additional 3-4 minutes on each side until heated through.
  7. Assemble the burger by spreading vegan mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun, adding a lettuce leaf, a tempeh patty, sliced avocado, and sliced tomato. Drizzle sriracha sauce on top before adding the top half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your spicy tempeh burger!
