Ingredients

  • Edamame (in pods) - 200 grams
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a medium pot, bring water to a boil and add a pinch of salt. Add the edamame pods and cook for 5 minutes until tender but still vibrant green.
  2. Drain the edamame and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Stir in the red chili flakes and sauté for an additional 30 seconds.
  5. Add the cooked edamame to the skillet. Pour in the soy sauce and toss everything together until the edamame is evenly coated and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat, season with additional salt if needed, and transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
