Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cayenne pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • BBQ sauce - 1/2 cup
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped

Steps

  1. Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium heat.
  2. Press the tofu between paper towels to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  3. In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt to create a marinade.
  4. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Skewer the marinated tofu onto skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes prior to prevent burning).
  6. Grill the tofu skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until they are golden and slightly charred.
  7. Brush the BBQ sauce over the tofu skewers during the last 2-3 minutes of grilling.
  8. Remove from the grill, sprinkle with chopped cilantro, and serve hot.
