- Spaghetti - 170 grams
- Ground turkey - 250 grams
- Parmesan cheese, grated - 30 grams
- Breadcrumbs - 30 grams
- Egg - 1 large
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Onion, finely chopped - 1/2 medium
- Fresh basil, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Canned crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
Steps
- Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, chopped basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 12 meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
- Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add canned crushed tomatoes, sugar, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer in the sauce for about 10 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve the meatballs over the cooked spaghetti, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
