Ingredients

  • Spaghetti - 170 grams
  • Ground turkey - 250 grams
  • Parmesan cheese, grated - 30 grams
  • Breadcrumbs - 30 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Onion, finely chopped - 1/2 medium
  • Fresh basil, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Canned crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, chopped basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 12 meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
  4. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add canned crushed tomatoes, sugar, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
  6. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer in the sauce for about 10 minutes until cooked through.
  7. Serve the meatballs over the cooked spaghetti, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
