Ingredients
- Ground turkey - 300 grams
- Red bell pepper - 1 medium, diced
- Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
- Greek yogurt - 2 tablespoons
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2, for serving
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, diced red bell pepper, chopped green onion, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Divide the turkey mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil if desired. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are fully cooked and reach an internal temperature of 75°C.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the lime crema by mixing the Greek yogurt and lime juice in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns in the skillet for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, topping with a turkey patty, slices of avocado, and a drizzle of lime crema. Add the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
