- Firm tofu - 400 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cayenne pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Apple cider vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar-free ketchup - 100 grams
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Liquid smoke - 1 teaspoon
- Mustard - 1 teaspoon
- Water - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes.
- While the tofu is pressing, mix together paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
- Once pressed, cut the tofu into 1-inch thick slices and coat them with olive oil and the spice mixture.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
- Grill the tofu slices for about 5-7 minutes on each side until they have nice grill marks and are heated through.
- In a separate bowl, combine the apple cider vinegar, sugar-free ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, mustard, and water to make the BBQ sauce.
- In the last few minutes of grilling, brush the BBQ sauce over the tofu slices, allowing it to caramelize slightly.
- Serve the BBQ tofu hot, garnished with additional sauce if desired.
