- Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce - 1 tablespoon, minced
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Whole grain burger buns - 2
- Avocado - 1, sliced
- Lettuce leaves - 4
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, minced chipotle peppers, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into two equal-sized patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through and internal temperature reaches 75°C.
- While the patties are cooking, slice the whole grain buns and toast them lightly if desired.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the turkey patty, sliced avocado, tomato, and red onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with a side salad or baked sweet potato fries.
