Ingredients

  • Ground turkey - 300 grams
  • Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce - 1 tablespoon, minced
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole grain burger buns - 2
  • Avocado - 1, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves - 4
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, minced chipotle peppers, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into two equal-sized patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through and internal temperature reaches 75°C.
  4. While the patties are cooking, slice the whole grain buns and toast them lightly if desired.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the turkey patty, sliced avocado, tomato, and red onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
  6. Serve immediately with a side salad or baked sweet potato fries.
