Ingredients

  • Canned navy beans - 400 grams
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Liquid smoke - 1/2 teaspoon
  • BBQ sauce - 100 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, diced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard (yellow) - 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Water - 100 milliliters

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a medium skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the navy beans, sautéed onion and garlic, smoked paprika, liquid smoke, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, black pepper, and water. Mix well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
