Ingredients

  • Smoked brisket - 200 grams, diced
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Onion - 1 medium, chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Red bell pepper - 1, diced
  • Jalapeño - 1, minced
  • Canned diced tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Kidney beans - 200 grams, drained and rinsed
  • Chili powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Beef broth - 250 milliliters
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic, diced red bell pepper, and minced jalapeño. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in the diced smoked brisket and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the brisket to warm through.
  4. Add the canned diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let the chili cook uncovered for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. If the chili is too thick, add a bit more beef broth.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
