Ingredients
- Beef ribs - 1 kg
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Paprika - 2 teaspoons
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cayenne pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Smoked wood chips (hickory or apple) - 1 cup
- BBQ sauce (Halal) - for serving
Steps
- Prepare the beef ribs by trimming excess fat and patting them dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix olive oil, brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt to create a rub.
- Rub the spice mixture evenly over the beef ribs, ensuring all sides are coated. Let them marinate for at least 1 hour (or overnight in the refrigerator for better flavor).
- Preheat your smoker to 110°C (225°F). If using charcoal, set it up for indirect cooking.
- Soak the smoked wood chips in water for about 30 minutes, then drain.
- Once the smoker is ready, add the drained wood chips to the coals or in the smoker box.
- Place the beef ribs on the smoker grates bone-side down and close the lid.
- Smoke the ribs for about 5-6 hours, maintaining a consistent temperature of 110°C (225°F), until the internal temperature reaches 90°C (195°F) for tender meat.
- Remove the ribs from the smoker and let them rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the smoked beef ribs with your favorite Halal BBQ sauce.
