Ingredients
- Beef (top round or flank steak) - 300 grams
- Soy sauce (halal) - 60 ml
- Worcestershire sauce - 30 ml
- Honey - 15 grams
- Smoked paprika - 5 grams
- Garlic powder - 5 grams
- Onion powder - 5 grams
- Black pepper - 2 grams
- Red pepper flakes - 2 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
Steps
- Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips, about 0.5 cm thick.
- In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and salt to create a marinade.
- Add the beef strips to the marinade and mix well to ensure all pieces are coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight for best flavor.
- Preheat your smoker to 70°C (160°F). If using an oven, preheat it to the lowest setting.
- Remove the beef from the marinade and shake off excess liquid. Lay the strips out in a single layer on smoking racks or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Smoke the beef for about 4-6 hours, or until it is dry and chewy but not brittle. If using an oven, keep the door slightly ajar to allow moisture to escape, and check regularly.
- Once done, let the jerky cool completely before storing it in an airtight container.
