Ingredients

  • Ground turkey - 300 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Green bell pepper - 1/2, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ketchup - 60 ml
  • Worcestershire sauce - 15 ml
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Cheddar cheese - 2 slices
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground turkey, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked turkey and stir to combine. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. While the turkey is simmering, toast the burger buns in a separate skillet or oven until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a generous scoop of the turkey mixture on the bottom half of each bun, topping with a slice of cheddar cheese, and finishing with the top half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your Sloppy Joe Burgers!
