Ingredients
- Whole wheat flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Honey - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Tomato sauce - 100 grams
- Mozzarella cheese (part-skim) - 100 grams, shredded
- Bell pepper (mixed colors) - 100 grams, diced
- Red onion - 50 grams, thinly sliced
- Black olives - 50 grams, sliced
- Fresh basil - 5 grams, chopped
- Oregano - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and honey in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place it in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and spread it out into a greased square baking pan (20x20 cm).
- Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by the diced bell peppers, sliced red onion, and black olives.
- Sprinkle chopped fresh basil and oregano on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, slice, and serve.
