- Jasmine rice - 1 cup (200g)
- Water - 2 cups (480ml)
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (30ml)
- Toasted sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons (30g)
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon (1.5g)
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon (1.5g)
Steps
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.
- While the rice is cooking, heat the sesame oil in a small skillet over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the soy sauce, salt, and black pepper to the skillet, stirring to combine. Remove from heat.
- Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and pour the sesame oil mixture over the rice, mixing well.
- Stir in the chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds, adjusting seasoning if needed.
- Serve warm as a side dish.
