Ingredients

  • Tuna steaks - 2 pieces (about 150g each)
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (30ml)
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons (30ml)
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (15g)
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Chopped green onions - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create a marinade.
  2. Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add a little olive oil, swirling to coat the bottom.
  4. Remove the tuna from the marinade, letting excess drip off, and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  5. Place the tuna steaks in the hot skillet and sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare, depending on thickness.
  6. Once cooked to your liking, remove the tuna from the skillet and let rest for a minute.
  7. Slice the tuna steaks against the grain, sprinkle with black sesame seeds, and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
