Ingredients

  • Tuna steak - 2 pieces (150g each)
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, and lemon juice to create the marinade.
  2. Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add a drizzle of olive oil to the pan.
  4. Remove the tuna steaks from the marinade, letting the excess drip off. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  5. Carefully place the tuna steaks in the hot skillet. Sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or longer if you prefer more well-done.
  6. Once cooked to your desired doneness, remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a minute.
  7. Sprinkle the top with sesame seeds and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
