Ingredients
- Chicken breast - 2 pieces (150g each)
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup (60g)
- Egg - 1 large
- Breadcrumbs - 1 cup (100g)
- Vegetable oil - 1/2 cup (120ml) for frying
- Sandwich rolls - 2
- Lettuce - 1 cup, shredded
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Pickles - 1/2 cup, sliced
- Ketchup - 2 tablespoons
- Mustard - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and add the vegetable oil.
- While the oil heats, season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- Set up a breading station: place the flour in one shallow bowl, the beaten egg in another, and the breadcrumbs in a third.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off the excess, then dip in the beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully place the breaded chicken in the skillet and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it drain on paper towels.
- While the chicken is resting, prepare the sandwich rolls by slicing them in half.
- Spread ketchup and mustard on the inside of each roll.
- Layer lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and pickles on the bottom half of each roll.
- Top with the fried schnitzel and place the top half of the roll over the chicken.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your Schnitzel Sandwich!
