Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 2 pieces (150g each)
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup (60g)
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Breadcrumbs - 1 cup (100g)
  • Vegetable oil - 1/2 cup (120ml) for frying
  • Sandwich rolls - 2
  • Lettuce - 1 cup, shredded
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Pickles - 1/2 cup, sliced
  • Ketchup - 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and add the vegetable oil.
  2. While the oil heats, season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Set up a breading station: place the flour in one shallow bowl, the beaten egg in another, and the breadcrumbs in a third.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off the excess, then dip in the beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the breaded chicken in the skillet and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it drain on paper towels.
  7. While the chicken is resting, prepare the sandwich rolls by slicing them in half.
  8. Spread ketchup and mustard on the inside of each roll.
  9. Layer lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and pickles on the bottom half of each roll.
  10. Top with the fried schnitzel and place the top half of the roll over the chicken.
  11. Serve immediately and enjoy your Schnitzel Sandwich!
