Ingredients

  • Sea scallops - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic, minced - 3 cloves
  • Fresh parsley, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Pat the scallops dry with a paper towel and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once the oil is hot, add the scallops to the skillet in a single layer, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  4. Sear the scallops for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they develop a golden crust, then flip them carefully and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes on the other side.
  5. Remove the scallops from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  6. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and minced garlic, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  7. Add the lemon juice and red pepper flakes (if using), stirring to combine.
  8. Return the scallops to the skillet, gently tossing them in the garlic sauce to coat.
  9. Remove from heat, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.
