Ingredients
- Russet potatoes - 2 medium (about 400g)
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup (60g)
- Egg - 1 large
- Milk - 1/4 cup (60ml)
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons (30ml)
- Chives - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Peel and grate the russet potatoes using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes, flour, egg, milk, olive oil, chives, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and baking powder. Mix until well combined.
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or a small amount of olive oil.
- Spoon the potato mixture into the preheated waffle iron, spreading it evenly to cover the surface. Close the lid and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the waffles are golden brown and crispy.
- Carefully remove the waffles from the iron and keep them warm in an oven set to low heat while you repeat with the remaining batter.
- Serve the savory potato waffles hot, garnished with additional chopped chives or a dollop of sour cream, if desired.
