Ingredients

  • Tomatillos - 200 grams
  • Fresh cilantro - 30 grams
  • Jalapeño - 1 medium, chopped
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Corn tortillas - 4 pieces

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Remove the husks from the tomatillos and rinse them under cold water.
  3. In a saucepan, add the tomatillos and cover them with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 5-7 minutes until they are tender.
  4. Drain the tomatillos and allow them to cool slightly.
  5. In a blender, combine the cooked tomatillos, cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, lime juice, olive oil, and salt. Blend until smooth.
  6. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Set the salsa verde aside.
  7. Cut the corn tortillas into triangles to make chips.
  8. Spread the tortilla triangles on a baking sheet and lightly brush them with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden and crispy, turning halfway through.
  10. Serve the salsa verde with the homemade tortilla chips.
