Ingredients

  • Sushi rice - 150 grams
  • Water - 200 ml
  • Rice vinegar - 30 ml
  • Sugar - 10 grams
  • Salt - 5 grams
  • Salmon roe - 100 grams
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Nori sheets - 2
  • Wasabi paste - to taste
  • Soy sauce (kosher) - for serving

Steps

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until the water is absorbed.
  3. Remove from heat and let the rice sit, covered, for another 10 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Gently fold this mixture into the cooked rice, being careful not to mash the grains.
  5. Spread the sushi rice evenly over a nori sheet, leaving a 2 cm border at the top edge.
  6. Place slices of avocado and salmon roe in a line along the center of the rice.
  7. Using a bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, applying gentle pressure to form a tight roll.
  8. Seal the edge of the nori with a little water.
  9. With a sharp knife, slice the roll into 6-8 pieces.
  10. Serve the sushi with wasabi and kosher soy sauce on the side.
