- Water - 200 ml
- Rice vinegar - 30 ml
- Sugar - 10 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Salmon roe - 100 grams
- Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
- Nori sheets - 2
- Wasabi paste - to taste
- Soy sauce (kosher) - for serving
Steps
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- In a saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until the water is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let the rice sit, covered, for another 10 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Gently fold this mixture into the cooked rice, being careful not to mash the grains.
- Spread the sushi rice evenly over a nori sheet, leaving a 2 cm border at the top edge.
- Place slices of avocado and salmon roe in a line along the center of the rice.
- Using a bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, applying gentle pressure to form a tight roll.
- Seal the edge of the nori with a little water.
- With a sharp knife, slice the roll into 6-8 pieces.
- Serve the sushi with wasabi and kosher soy sauce on the side.
