Ingredients

  • Wild rice - 100 grams
  • Chicken or vegetable broth - 500 ml
  • Fresh sage leaves - 10 grams, chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 small, diced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chopped walnuts - 30 grams (optional)

Steps

  1. Rinse the wild rice under cold water and drain.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the diced onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and chopped sage to the saucepan, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the wild rice, broth, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes or until the rice is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid.
  6. If using, stir in the chopped walnuts before serving for added crunch.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve warm.
