- Wild rice - 100 grams
- Chicken or vegetable broth - 500 ml
- Fresh sage leaves - 10 grams, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 small, diced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Chopped walnuts - 30 grams (optional)
Steps
- Rinse the wild rice under cold water and drain.
- In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the diced onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and chopped sage to the saucepan, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the wild rice, broth, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes or until the rice is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid.
- If using, stir in the chopped walnuts before serving for added crunch.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and serve warm.
