  • Unsalted butter - 100 grams, softened
  • Cream cheese - 100 grams, softened
  • Granulated sugar - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Chopped walnuts - 50 grams
  • Raspberry jam - 100 grams
  • Egg - 1, for egg wash

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
  2. Add the softened butter and cream cheese to the flour mixture, and blend until crumbly.
  3. Stir in the granulated sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Divide the dough into two equal parts, flatten each into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. On a floured surface, roll out one disc of dough into a circle (about 25 cm in diameter).
  7. Spread 50 grams of raspberry jam evenly over the dough, then sprinkle half the chopped walnuts and ground cinnamon on top.
  8. Cut the circle into 8 equal wedges, then roll each wedge from the wide end to the point, forming a crescent shape.
  9. Place the rugelach on the prepared baking sheet and repeat the process with the second disc of dough.
  10. Beat the egg and brush it over the rugelach for a shiny finish.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and enjoy warm.
