Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 100 grams
  • granulated sugar - 80 grams
  • baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • unsalted butter, softened - 30 grams
  • milk - 60 ml
  • egg - 1 large
  • rosewater - 1 tablespoon
  • vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
  • powdered sugar - 50 grams
  • heavy cream - 30 ml

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a muffin tin with 2 cupcake liners.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter until light and fluffy, then add the egg, milk, rosewater, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the two cupcake liners.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. While the cupcakes are baking, prepare the frosting. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gradually add the powdered sugar and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
  8. Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, pipe or spread the whipped cream frosting on top of each cupcake.
  9. Drizzle a little extra rosewater on top for added flavor, if desired, and serve.
