Ingredients

  • Ground elk meat - 250 grams
  • Gluten-free hamburger buns - 2
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
  • Pickles - 4 slices
  • Mustard - 1 tablespoon
  • Ketchup - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground elk meat, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into two patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the elk patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the gluten-free buns by toasting them lightly in a separate pan or toaster.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked elk patty, slices of tomato, red onion, and pickles.
  6. Spread mustard and ketchup on the top half of the bun, then place it on top of the assembled burger.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your Rocky Mountain Elk Burger.
