Ingredients

  • Prawns, peeled and deveined - 150 grams
  • White bread - 4 slices
  • Garlic, minced - 1 clove
  • Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onion, finely chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce (Halal) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Egg, beaten - 1
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) - 200 ml

Steps

  1. In a food processor, combine the prawns, garlic, ginger, green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth.
  2. Spread the prawn mixture evenly over one side of each slice of bread.
  3. In a shallow dish, place the cornstarch. Dip the prawn-covered side of each slice of bread into the cornstarch to coat lightly.
  4. Brush the prawn-coated side with the beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the bread slices prawn-side down.
  6. Fry for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy, then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side.
  7. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels. Cut each slice into triangles and serve immediately.
