  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, diced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, diced
  • Celery - 1 stalk, diced
  • Ground beef (halal) - 200 grams
  • Canned diced tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Canned kidney beans - 200 grams, drained and rinsed
  • Canned black beans - 200 grams, drained and rinsed
  • Chili powder - 2 tablespoons
  • Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Water - 250 milliliters
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic, diced bell pepper, carrot, and celery; cook for another 5 minutes until vegetables soften.
  4. Add ground beef to the pot, breaking it apart with a spoon; cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes, drained kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  6. Pour in water and bring the mixture to a boil.
  7. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
