Ingredients
- Beef short ribs - 500 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Cayenne pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Apple cider vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- BBQ sauce (halal) - 1/2 cup
Steps
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and honey to create a marinade.
- Place the beef short ribs in a large resealable bag or a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
- Remove the ribs from the marinade and place them on a baking sheet lined with foil. Reserve the marinade for basting.
- Cover the ribs tightly with another piece of foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours until tender.
- After 2 hours, remove the foil and brush the ribs generously with BBQ sauce. Increase the oven temperature to 200°C (400°F) and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, basting with the reserved marinade halfway through.
- Once the ribs are nicely caramelized and sticky, remove them from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
