Ingredients

  • Pork chops - 2 pieces (about 200g each)
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Yellow onion - 1 medium, sliced
  • Apple (preferably Granny Smith) - 1 medium, cored and sliced
  • Dried thyme - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chicken broth - 1/2 cup
  • Butter - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the pork chops with salt, black pepper, and thyme on both sides.
  3. Add the pork chops to the skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and add the sliced onions. Sauté for about 3 minutes until they begin to soften.
  5. Add the minced garlic and sliced apples to the skillet, stirring frequently for about 4-5 minutes until the apples are slightly tender.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Bring to a simmer.
  7. Return the pork chops to the skillet, cover, and cook for an additional 5 minutes to heat through and allow flavors to meld.
  8. Stir in the butter until melted, then serve the pork chops topped with the apple and onion mixture.
