Ingredients

  • Ground pork - 250 grams
  • Granny Smith apple - 1 medium, diced
  • Red onion - 50 grams, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon, chopped
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Honey - 1 teaspoon (optional)
  • Mustard - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the diced apple, red onion, and garlic until the apple is tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the ground pork, thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet, mixing well. Cook until the pork is browned and fully cooked, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. While the pork is cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns in a toaster or on a separate skillet until golden brown.
  4. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the pork and apple mixture, and a drizzle of mustard. Add the top half of the bun.
  5. Serve immediately, with a side of mixed greens if desired.
