- Vegetable oil - for frying
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut into bite-sized cubes.
- Pop the popcorn kernels in a popcorn maker or on the stovetop, then set aside.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Add water to the dry mixture to create a batter, then dip each tofu cube into the batter, ensuring it's well-coated.
- Crush the popped popcorn into smaller pieces and place them in a shallow dish.
- Roll each battered tofu cube in the crushed popcorn until fully coated.
- In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat and add the popcorn-coated tofu cubes.
- Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
