Ingredients
- Pasta (spaghetti or penne) - 200 grams
- Canned tuna (in olive oil or water) - 1 can (about 150 grams drained)
- Cherry tomatoes - 200 grams, halved
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh basil leaves - 10 grams, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes until they start to soften and release their juices.
- Drain the canned tuna and add it to the skillet with the tomatoes. Stir gently to combine and heat through for another 2-3 minutes.
- Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and add it directly to the skillet with the tuna and tomato mixture.
- Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water as needed to create a light sauce. Season with salt, pepper, red pepper flakes (if using), and lemon juice.
- Remove from heat and stir in the chopped fresh basil. Serve immediately, garnished with additional basil if desired.
